St. Sophia Orthodox Church is one of the most imposing architectures of Harbin. In 1903, with the completion of the Sino-Russia railway, connecting Vladivostok to northeast China, the Russian No.4 Army Division arrived in this region. After Russia's shameful failure against the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), a plan to reconsolidate the confidence of the army by building an imposing spiritual symbol was proposed.



Central Avenue (Zhongyang Dajie), constructed in 1898, is Asia's longest pedestrian street running 1,450 meters north-south through downtown Harbin. The cobblestone street is lined with more than 70 buildings both European and Chinese style offices, shops and restaurants. Dubbed by locals as "the gallery of European architectural art" this street is a testament to Harbin's culturally diverse past and present. With many of the city's best shops and restaurants Central Avenue has become one of Harbin's greatest attractions.




The Sun Island lies at the Songhua River side in Harbin City, opposites to the urban screened by the river. Accompanied by the attractive landscapes all over the year, it is a famous scenic spot and a good recuperation place in Chinese north regions. The scenic area of the Sun Island is composing with 20 scenic spots. Such as the water pavilion and cloud sky, youth's family, waterside pavilion, fountain and flying waterfall, Sun Mountain and Lotus Lake, occupying an area of 38 square km.



Changbaishan is the most beautiful mountain in northeaster China and is home to very many scenic areas, such as a dormant volcano that has not erupted for more than 300 years, as well as the Changbaishan park where if lucky, one can spot tigers. The mountain's name means ‘ever white' and is called this due to the pumice stones formed in the area, as well as the winter snow.

The Tianchi Lake, also known as the "Heavenly Lake," is the creation of a volcanic eruption in 1702. With an average depth of 204 meters, the 9.2-square-kilometer lake is the deepest lake in China. Surrounded by dropping cliffs, the lake is often shrouded by thick fog and endowed with variable weather. With such weather, the landscape changes constantly and is one of the lake's attractive features. Local people might say that there is a strange creature in the lake, but no one can tell for sure. In its vicinity there are also smaller crater lakes and hot springs.
