Zhangjiajie is a prefecture-level city in the northwestern part of Hunan province in China. Within it is located Wulingyuan Scenic Area which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.The Wulinyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area is comprised of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the Tianzishan (天子山) mountain ranges, BaoFengHu (宝峰湖) and the Suoxi Valley (索溪峪), and is a very popular filming and tourist destination.

The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a unique national forest located in Zhangjiajie City in northern Hunan Province in the People's Republic of China.In 1988 it was recognized as China's first National Forest Park. In 1992, it was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.



Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is an autonomous prefecture of the People's Republic of China. It is located in western Hunan province. Zhangjiajie and Sangzhi used to be parts of this autonomous prefecture.
