Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture is an autonomous prefecture of Guizhou province in the People's Republic of China. The seat of the prefecture is Kaili. Kaili has a population of approximately 450,000. A significant population of the Miao and Gejia people groups live in Kaili. It is a popular destination for backpackers and others seeking to experience rural China and especially those who want to know the secret and quite unique tradition and culture of the local minority life.

Besides the very beautiful scenery, the arts and crafts of the Miao, such as the embroidery, brocade, wax printing, and paper cut, are also quite famous in China and abroad. Highlight of the place is host to more than 100 Miao festivals throughout the year. So people could learn and feel different fun in all seasons.

The Dong people and The Miao people are ethnic group. They are famed for their carpentry skills and unique culture, arts, architecture, performing arts, costumes, etc. Just like in the region, a particular form of covered bridge known as the "wind and rain bridge" could be seen in most of the places. Many of the people are still farmers. Some highlights of the local such us: Dong people has a kind of great art which be called: The Grand Song of Dong Minority.
It is the world heritage nowadays and gain highly reputation. For Miao people, they just tremendous famous for their outstanding handicrafts of silver making. Especially the colorful costume which normally has many and many accouterments made of silver. At the same time, special local dance, the batik, the instrument of Lusheng, all these give this trip a rich and uncountable special experiences of Chinese minority culture.

A three-hour journey west from Guiyang is the Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the biggest falls in China, 316 feet high and 346 feet wide. Water pours down a cliff into the Xiniu Pool. Sunlight is diffracted through the drops of water, producing glorious rainbows. There is a natural cave behind the waterfall, 131 feet above Xiniu Pool. Standing inside and watching the water pouring down is an unforgettable sight. Around the Huangguoshu are 18 smaller falls and 30 karst caves.

The Water-Curtain Cave named "Shuiliandong" (水帘洞) in Chinese is a 134 m (440 ft) long naturally formed cave located in the back of the waterfall. It allows visitors to not only view, but also hear and touch the waterfall. The Huangguoshu Waterfall is one of few waterfalls that can be viewed from above, below, front, back, left and right in the world.
